Yes. Both natural stone and porcelain cobble setts are hard-wearing enough for driveways and can handle regular vehicle traffic when laid on a proper sub-base with the right jointing. Granite cobble setts are particularly popular for driveways because of their strength.

Natural stone (sandstone, limestone, granite) has more texture and colour variation, which suits traditional or rustic projects. Porcelain setts are more uniform in colour, very low-maintenance, stain-resistant and frost-proof - so they tend to work well in modern settings or areas that see a lot of use.

It depends on the size of sett and the area you're covering. As a rough guide, you'll need around 100 of the 100x100mm setts per square metre, or about 50 of the 200x100mm setts per square metre. We'd always suggest ordering an extra 10–15% to allow for cuts and waste.

In short: prepare a compacted hardcore base, lay a mortar bed, place each cobble and tap it level with a rubber mallet, then fill the joints with a jointing compound or sand-cement mix. For the full walkthrough, have a look at our how to lay cobbles step-by-step guide.

Porcelain doesn't need sealing. Natural stone can be sealed with an external stone sealer to bring out the colour and help protect against staining, but it isn't essential - it's more of a preference.
