Rippon Buff Sandstone Paving – Mixed Size – Vibrant, Eye-Catching Natural Stone
Rippon Buff Sandstone is the most vibrant sandstone we stock, featuring a rich blend of buff, pink, orange, and subtle purple tones. Quarried from the same reputable source as Raj Green, this stone is hand-selected for its striking palette, making it a standout choice for any garden or patio. The hues intensify beautifully when wet, revealing a dynamic, eye-catching look that adds warmth and character to outdoor spaces.
For those who want to maintain this enhanced look year-round, a colour-enhancing sealer is recommended. Despite its exceptional appearance, Rippon Buff offers outstanding value, making it a highly affordable option for those seeking a bold, high-impact design without the premium price tag.
Do Rippon Buff Slabs Have Consistent Thickness?
Typically, these slabs are calibrated to a thickness of 22mm. However, due to the natural properties of Sandstone, there can be a tolerance of up to +/- 3mm
What Slab Sizes can I Expect To Find In The Mixed Packs?
The mixed-size pack for this Sandstone includes the following slab dimensions:
- 90cm x 60cm
- 60cm x 60cm
- 60cm x 29cm
- 29cm x 29cm
The two smaller sizes (60cm x 29cm and 29cm x 29cm) are cut to 29cm to allow for an approximate 10mm joint.
Note: As this is a natural product, there may be slight size tolerances especially with the edges being Hand Dressed. It's important to account for these variations when planning your project layout, as variations in size will mean that joint widths are almost certain to vary throughout the patio.
This is perfectly normal for this type of material and adds to its natural charm. If you require millimeter accuracy, porcelain tiles may be a better option.
What Is The Edge Detail On These Sandstone Pavers?
The edge detail is hand-dressed, meaning each edge is carefully chipped by hand to create a natural, textured look. This gives the paving a rustic, timeless appearance, perfect for traditional or natural designs.
Why does natural stone vary in colour?
Natural stone is formed over millions of years by geological processes, resulting in unique variations in colour, veining, and texture. No two stones are exactly alike, making each piece one of a kind.
How Much Colour Variation Will There Be?
The amount of colour variation depends on the quantity ordered. Smaller orders (less than 15m²) may have less variation, while larger orders (e.g., 20m² or more) are likely to display a broader range of natural tones and patterns.
Will wet stone look different in colour?
Yes, natural stone often appears darker when wet because water enhances its natural colour and pattern. This effect is temporary and returns to normal as the stone dries.
How Should I Maintain Rippon Paving?
Regular sweeping to remove debris and occasional cleaning with a mild soapy solution will help maintain their appearance. Sealing the slabs can enhance their colour and provide added protection against stains and weathering.
