FAQs

What does Quartz White porcelain look like?

Quartz White is a bright, light-toned porcelain with soft white and pale grey colouring and a subtle stone-effect texture across the surface. The colour reads as a clean off-white with light grey movement, similar to weathered limestone or honed marble, but in a non-porous, low-maintenance porcelain format. The light tone reflects more daylight than darker porcelains, which can make outdoor spaces feel larger and brighter, particularly useful in shaded gardens or smaller patios.

Will the colour change in different light?

White porcelain looks noticeably different in direct sun versus shade, which is worth being aware of when planning. In bright sunlight it reads as very crisp and bright, almost off-white. In overcast UK weather or shaded corners, it picks up the cooler tones in the grey movement and reads more as a soft pale grey. This isn't a fault, it's just how light interacts with light-coloured surfaces, but ordering a free sample lets you see how it'll look in your specific garden conditions.

What's the difference between porcelain and natural stone paving?

Porcelain is a manufactured product made from compressed clays fired at very high temperatures, which makes it dense, non-porous and extremely hard-wearing. Natural stone (sandstone, limestone) is quarried, so each slab is unique in colour and pattern. The practical differences: porcelain doesn't need sealing, resists stains and frost without effort, and has a consistent finish. Natural stone has more character and variation but needs sealing and more upkeep to look its best.

Does porcelain paving need sealing?

No. This is one of the main practical advantages of porcelain over natural stone. Porcelain is vitrified and non-porous, so liquids sit on the surface rather than soaking in. You don't need to seal it after installation and you don't need to re-seal it every few years like sandstone or limestone. Jointing compound still needs to be applied properly, but the slabs themselves require no sealing.
