Buff steps are a great choice if you want a lighter, more welcoming look in your garden or patio. The warm colouring works well with sandstone-style paving and blends naturally into landscaped spaces, whether you choose stone for its variation or porcelain for its consistent finish. Buff tones are ideal for brightening shaded areas and giving entrances or raised levels a softer, more traditional feel. Durable, easy to look after and suitable for year-round use, buff steps remain a reliable option for homeowners, landscapers and builders wanting a natural, light-toned finish that doesn’t feel too bold.

FAQs

Should I choose stone or porcelain buff steps?

Stone steps (Raj Green and Fossil Mint sandstone) have natural colour variation and a textured finish. They need sealing before use and give a more traditional look. Porcelain steps (Cathedral Beige and Cathedral Anthracite) have a more consistent colour, need no sealing, and are R11 rated. They tend to suit more contemporary layouts. Order free samples of each before deciding.

What is the difference between bullnose and rustic dressed buff steps?

Bullnose steps have a smooth, rounded leading edge and a consistent sawn finish. Rustic dressed steps are thicker with a rougher, hand-worked surface. Bullnose is the more common choice for formal patios and matched layouts. Rustic dressed suits more informal or cottage-style settings.

Do you supply matching risers?

No, we don't supply matching risers. Most customers use brick, block, or their existing walling material to build up the risers beneath each tread.

Can the steps be cut to a bespoke size?

No, we only supply steps in standard widths. If you need a specific custom dimension, we'd recommend sourcing from a local stone mason.
