Should I choose stone or porcelain 900mm steps?

Stone steps have natural colour variation and a textured finish. They need sealing before use and suit more traditional or informal layouts. Porcelain steps have a more consistent colour, need no sealing and are R11 rated. They tend to suit contemporary patios and lower-maintenance gardens. Order free samples of each before deciding.

What depths and thicknesses are available at 900mm?

Stone bullnose steps come in 300mm or 450mm deep and are 30mm thick. Porcelain bullnose steps come in 195mm, 400mm or 600mm deep and are 20mm thick. Rustic dressed steps come in 250mm or 300mm deep and are 50mm or 80–100mm thick.

Is 900mm wide enough for my garden?

900mm is our most popular step width. It gives a comfortable single-person tread with enough room to carry items through, and suits most main garden entrances and patio transitions. For narrower access points, 600mm may be more practical. For wider openings or a more generous look, 1200mm is worth considering.

Do you supply matching risers?

No, we don't supply matching risers. Most customers use brick, block, or their existing walling material to build up the risers beneath each tread.

Can the steps be cut to a bespoke size?

No, we only supply steps in standard widths. If you need a specific custom dimension, we'd recommend sourcing from a local stone mason.
