FAQs

What's the difference between Rock White and Quartz White porcelain?

Both are light-toned porcelain ranges with soft white and pale grey tones, so on first look they're easy to confuse. The main difference is tier: Rock White is in our premium porcelain range (£21.50 per slab) and uses the same large-format 1000x500 sizing as Masso Grey and Modello Black, while Quartz White is in the value range (£12.15 per slab) at the more traditional 900x600 size. The premium product gives you tighter colour consistency, sharper rectified edges, and the larger contemporary slab format. The value product still performs the same job at a more accessible price. Ordering samples of both is the simplest way to decide which is right for your project.

What does Rock White porcelain look like?

Rock White has a soft, bright white base with gentle pale grey stone-effect movement across the surface. It reads as a clean, modern off-white rather than a stark pure white, which keeps it grounded against UK garden planting and brickwork without feeling cold. The light tone reflects more daylight than darker porcelain, which can make outdoor spaces feel larger and brighter, particularly useful in shaded gardens or smaller patios.

Does porcelain paving need sealing?

No. This is one of the main practical advantages of porcelain over natural stone. Porcelain is vitrified and non-porous, so liquids sit on the surface rather than soaking in. You don't need to seal it after installation and you don't need to re-seal it every few years like sandstone or limestone. Jointing compound still needs to be applied properly, but the slabs themselves require no sealing.

How do I lay Porcelain Paving?

Porcelain paving needs to be laid on a full mortar bed using a porcelain-specific primer or slurry to help it bond properly. Unlike natural stone, porcelain doesn't absorb water, so standard methods won't work. See our porcelain paving laying guide for more information.
